Daleks have to stay in Doctor Who but they need to be refreshed. Not jut made a bit shorter and resprayed, rather totally redesigned. They need to be much, much more menacing... Some of us were around when they appeared and many years later still love them like old pets. Fezzes, bow ties and whatever else Matt Smith likes are not cool, Daleks are sub zero!
